Invisible Text Tools
An invisible character is a character that sits inside text but shows nothing on screen. This site has free tools to find them in text you paste, take them out, or copy one to use yourself — and every one of them runs in your browser, so nothing you paste is uploaded.
Everything happens in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored or logged.
Where they are in your text
Your text, with a coloured marker wherever a hidden character sits. Red was almost certainly put there on purpose. Amber could be either. Grey is the ordinary mess left behind by copying and pasting.
What is invisible text?
Some characters show nothing on screen. A few hold a gap open. Others take up no room at all. Either way you see nothing – but the computer still counts them.
We cannot show you one here, because you would see nothing. So there is a row of Try one of these buttons under the box above. Press one. It fills the box with text that really does have hidden characters in it, and you can watch the tool find them.
Which tool do I need?
- DetectorSomeone sent you text and it feels off. Find out what is hidden in it, and read what it says. Your text is not changed.
- RemoverYour text will not paste properly, or your code will not run. Take the hidden characters out.
- GeneratorYou want a blank name, an empty line in a bio, or an empty message. Copy one to use.
- Why it stopped workingYour blank name or bio was fine and now it is not. Find out which rule is stripping it.
- Whitespace cleanerDouble spaces, trailing spaces and stray line breaks. The ordinary mess, not the hidden kind.

Where invisible text comes from
Two ways, and they are very different.
By accident. You copy something out of a PDF, a Word file or a web page. Little bits of formatting come with it. This is common and usually harmless, though it can break search, spellcheck and code.
On purpose. Someone hides words inside a document so people do not see them — but software reading it does. A line in a CV. An extra sentence in a brief. This is newer, and it is why we built the detector first.
Nothing you paste is sent to us. The tools run inside your browser, on your own computer. There is no upload and nothing is saved.

Common questions
Is any of this against the rules?
Making a blank username is fine on most sites. Hiding instructions in a document to fool someone — or to fool software reading for them — is a different thing, and people have been punished for it in court. Finding hidden text is the safe side of this, and it is the side we lead with.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to install and nothing to pay. Every tool works straight away.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. Everything works in a phone browser. Copy your text, paste it in, and the tool does the rest.
Do you save what I paste?
No, and it is not just a promise. Your text never leaves your browser, so there is nothing for us to save even if we wanted to.
