Invisible Text Generator

An invisible character is a real character that shows nothing on screen, so a name or message made of it looks empty. This generator hands you one to copy for a blank username, an empty bio line or an empty message, and tests whether it survives the rules a form applies when you save.

How to use it

Pick where you are using it. Tap a button — Instagram, WhatsApp, Fortnite and so on. We pick the character that works best there.
Press Copy. It goes to your clipboard, even though you see nothing.
Paste it where you need it. Then save and check how it looks.

Why the square brackets?

An empty box looks exactly like a broken tool. So we draw what you copied between two brackets. Now you can see how wide it is.

The brackets are pushed apart. This is what you want for a blank username. Ask for three and they push apart three times as far.

Why a blank name stops working

This is the question nobody answers, and it has a real answer.

Before a website saves what you typed, it tidies it up. It does three things:

Cuts off blank space. At the start and the end.
Squashes repeated spaces. Runs of them become one.
Tidies up odd characters. Sometimes swapping one for another.

Each of those wipes out some invisible characters and leaves others alone. That is why the same trick works on one site and fails on the next.

The two that catch people out. One popular character is treated as blank space by browsers, so step 1 deletes it and you are left with nothing. Another gets swapped for a different character at step 3, so your name looks right when you save it and reads differently later.

If it did not work

Check it actually pasted. Did the cursor move? Did the send button light up? Nothing appearing is normal.
Try a different character. Open Choose a different character and take the next one down. They fail in different ways, so the second often works where the first did not.
Try more than one. Some places need a minimum length. Set the number to 3.

Before you spend a name change. Some games charge for renaming, and some sites only let you change your name every few days. Paste your result somewhere harmless first — a notes app, a draft message — and check it survived.

Common questions

I pasted it and nothing happened.

Nothing appearing is what success looks like. Check whether the cursor moved or the send button became active. If the field really did reject it, paste what you tried into the survival checker — it runs the rules a real field applies and names the one that removed your character.

Why will a normal space not work?

Because nearly every website cuts blank space off the ends and refuses anything that is only spaces. The characters here are not counted as blank space, which is the whole trick. Can I get banned for a blank name?

On most sites it is allowed. But a name that is entirely blank can get flagged and reset, and a few games treat it as hiding. Safer version: one normal character plus two blanks. You get most of the effect with much less risk.

How many should I copy?

One is enough almost everywhere. Games that need a minimum name length usually need three — those presets already set it for you.

How do I undo this later?
